Font Finder
Identify the font on any website — family, size, weight, line height and letter spacing — just by hovering over the text.
When you'd use it
- Identify the typeface on a site before recommending it to a client
- Check that headings actually use the weight the design specified
- Read the exact line height and letter spacing to reproduce a type scale
- Find out which webfont is being loaded and whether a fallback is showing instead
How to use Font Finder
- Start Font Finder.
- Hover any text — a tooltip shows family, size, weight, line height, letter spacing and colour.
- Move between headings and body copy to map the whole type scale.
- Press Escape when you are done.
Font Finder FAQ
Does it show the font that is actually rendering?
Yes. It reports the computed font, so if a webfont failed to load and a fallback is showing, you will see the fallback — which is often exactly the bug you are chasing.
Can it identify fonts inside images?
No. It reads text rendered by the browser. Type baked into an image is not text as far as the page is concerned.
