Dark Mode
Force a dark theme on any website that does not ship one, with adjustable intensity and warmth. Images and video stay natural instead of being inverted.
When you'd use it
- Read long documentation at night without a wall of white
- Reduce eye strain on internal dashboards that never got a dark theme
- Preview roughly how your own site would feel in dark mode before building one
- Keep your screen comfortable when everything else you use is already dark
How to use Dark Mode
- Enable Dark Mode from the popup.
- Adjust intensity to taste — lower values keep more of the original contrast.
- Add warmth if pure greys feel too cold at night.
- Leave "keep images natural" on so photos are not inverted.
Dark Mode FAQ
Will it make images look strange?
Not with the default setting. Images, video and canvas elements are excluded from the inversion so photos keep their true colours.
Does the setting persist?
Yes, per site. Turn it on for a documentation site and it stays on there without affecting anywhere else.
Is this the same as a site's own dark theme?
No. A site-designed dark theme will almost always look better. This is for the many sites that never built one.
